Moldova is looking to strengthen economic ties with the United States by developing new cooperation opportunities with the state of Georgia, particularly in energy, industry and logistics.
Moldovan Ambassador to the United States Vlad Kulminski and Minister-Counsellor Tatiana Mester-Balan held talks with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp during a visit to Atlanta. The meeting was organized at the invitation of U.S. Ambassador-designate to Moldova Mark Burkhalter and was also attended by former Georgia House of Representatives Speaker Terry Coleman.
According to the Moldovan Embassy in Washington, the discussions focused on possible areas of cooperation between Moldova and Georgia, including gas and electricity, processing industries and logistics.
The Moldovan delegation also presented the country’s position as a potential gateway for American companies seeking access to European Union markets. Another area discussed was Moldova’s possible role in supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The talks come with a focus on attracting more U.S. companies to Moldova and creating new investment opportunities for the Moldovan economy. The Embassy said that cooperation with American businesses should generate opportunities for both sides and provide economic returns for U.S. investors.
The Moldovan side welcomed the initiative and expressed its intention to work with the relevant U.S. partners to develop the ideas discussed in Atlanta into concrete economic partnerships.
The Embassy also thanked Governor Brian Kemp for the reception and Mark Burkhalter for initiating the meeting, wishing the ambassador-designate a successful mandate in Moldova.
