The wine sector in the Republic of Moldova recorded strong growth in 2025, with grape processing increasing by 45% compared to two years ago and wine production rising by 31%. The total volume of base wine reached 179 million liters, marking a 53% increase. The data were presented at a wine industry conference in Chisinau.

Stefan Iamandi, head of the National Office of Vine and Wine of Moldova, highlighted that exports remain 10% above the average of the past five years and 23% above the ten-year average, describing the trend as encouraging for the sector’s future. He stressed, however, that continued growth will require replanting, modernization, and sustained investment.

Ludmila Catlabuga reaffirmed that supporting the wine sector remains a priority for authorities, especially in terms of investments and adopting new technologies.

Meanwhile, Iwona Piorko, representing the European Union in Chisinau, described Moldovan wines as “truly fascinating and diverse,” noting that events like National Wine Day showcase both tradition and local grape varieties.

In 2025, Moldovan wines were exported to 70 countries through 127 exporters. Europe remained the main market, accounting for 60% of export value, followed by the Commonwealth of Independent States countries with 24%.
