Moldova is launching its first tender for constructing large wind and photovoltaic power parks

For the first time in Moldova, the Ministry of Energy has announced a tender to build onshore wind power plants with up to 105 MW and photovoltaic power plants with a maximum capacity of 60 MW. Investors who win the tender will become large eligible producers and receive guarantees to supply their produced energy for 15 years.

Interested investors must submit bids by March 31, 2025, at 23:59 (EET). The bid opening will be on April 1, 2025, at 09:00 (EET).

The Ministry of Energy published the tender announcement and documentation today in Monitorul Oficial and on its website.

Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said, “We aim to offer local and international companies the opportunity to invest in Moldova through this auction. We worked closely with the business community and stakeholders to create the most favorable and least bureaucratic conditions for participating in the auction.”

Under the terms of participation, winning investors will secure a guaranteed fixed price for their electricity production for 15 years. The tender will set this fixed price, which will not exceed 1.5 lei/kWh for wind energy and 1.67 lei/kWh for solar power, as determined by the National Energy Regulatory Agency.

The Ministry of Energy expects these new power plants to boost the share of electricity from renewable sources from 10% at the end of 2023 to 16.6% once they are operational. This boost will help achieve the national goal of a 30% share of renewable electricity in final consumption by 2030.
