In the first half of the year, the General Inspectorate for Migration issued approximately 15,000 documents—including visas, invitations, and residence permits—to foreign citizens arriving in the Republic of Moldova.
During the same period, the Inspectorate responded to over 10,000 phone inquiries and assisted around 6,500 individuals. Support included information on studying the Romanian language, integrating into the labor market, and understanding their rights and responsibilities while residing in Moldova.
The institution presented its activity report to the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to IPN.

At the legislative level, Moldova has simplified several procedures for foreigners to align with European standards. Recent changes include updates to the legal status of foreigners, rules for the free movement of EU citizens, and regulations on citizenship and visa issuance. These reforms aim to ensure transparency and fairness for all beneficiaries, the Inspectorate noted in a press release.
Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, emphasized that the Inspectorate’s efforts not only improve service delivery but also strengthen national security and uphold the rights of foreign nationals in Moldova.
Looking ahead, the General Inspectorate for Migration plans to develop a multifunctional center and upgrade the infrastructure at accommodation centers for foreigners.
