The National Bank of Moldova will issue the commemorative coin Moldova in the Single Euro Payments Area, 2025 starting December 19, according to a decision published today in the Official Journal.

The coin will come with a certificate of authenticity and will be available to the public through the National Bank of Moldova and licensed commercial banks.

The commemorative issue marks the Republic of Moldova accession to the Single Euro Payments Area, a strategic process completed in three stages. Moldova submitted its official application on January 30, 2024, signed by NBM Governor Anca Dragu. The country gained acceptance into SEPA on March 6, 2025, followed by operational integration on October 6, 2025, when the national payment system connected to the European infrastructure.

The NBM Governor Anca Dragu said Moldova accession to SEPA proves that national institutions can deliver concrete results for citizens and businesses, bringing the country closer to the European financial space through modern, secure, and accessible solutions. She described the coin as a symbol of trust, consistency, and Moldova clear European direction.

The coin is minted in silver, has a nominal value of 100 lei, and a circulation of 2,500 units. Eugeniu Boico, professor at Moldova State University and creator of the Tree of Life tourism brand, designed the coin.

Licensed banks will set the selling price independently, but it may not exceed the price established by the National Bank of Moldova by more than three percent.

The commemorative coin is legal tender in the Republic of Moldova at its nominal value.
