The participation of the Republic of Moldova in the NATO summit in Vilnius proves that the country is in the field of view of the North Atlantic Alliance and will receive the necessary support to counter the threats from the Russian Federation.
This is how Laurentiu Plesca, an expert from Bucharest, commented on the situation. According to him, our country may receive air defense systems previously requested by the authorities, radiomoldova.md reports.
“We will get more political and military support through the European Peace Instrument, of which the Republic of Moldova is a part. Of course, Maia Sandu repeated several times that the Republic of Moldova needs an air shield. A lot of efforts are being made in this direction.
Of course, we also need to train our soldiers more because the army of the Republic of Moldova has been in a neglected state all these years. At the same time, we expect support against the hybrid aggression of the Russian Federation against the Republic of Moldova,” the analyst said.
As previously reported, at the NATO summit in Vilnius, the Republic of Moldova will be represented by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and European Integration Nicu Popescu.
During the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of NATO and partner countries, Nicu Popescu will make a speech in which he will present the vision of the authorities of the country regarding the developments related to regional security, the measures that the Republic of Moldova is taking to counter the challenges to the security of the Republic of Moldova, as well as ways to deepen cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and NATO.
Nicu Popescu will also hold meetings with colleagues and officials from NATO member countries and partner countries.
