Moldova Plans Five-Year Travel Ban for Transnistrian Leader Vadim Krasnoselski

Moldovan authorities plan to impose restrictive measures on Vadim Krasnoselski, the leader of the separatist administration in Tiraspol, when he returns to the country. The measures would include a five-year ban on leaving Moldova, following his trip to Russia, where he was awarded a state honour by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“This is a provocation by Russia aimed at preventing the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. We condemn Russia’s actions and will examine possible response measures without escalating the situation, bearing in mind that Russia’s intention to destabilise the Republic of Moldova is ongoing,” the Bureau for Reintegration said.

According to the Bureau, Krasnoselski’s visit to Russia took place amid OSCE-facilitated discussions on natural gas supplies to the Transnistrian region during the winter.

The Bureau described the OSCE’s efforts as essential to preventing an escalation of tensions and building confidence between the two banks of the Dniester River.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently awarded Vadim Krasnoselski the Order of Honour of the Russian Federation. The distinction was granted in recognition of his work as head of the Transnistrian region.
