The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) has published a ranking of the 20 destinations with the fastest recovery in inbound tourism for January to September 2025 compared to pre pandemic levels in 2019.
The Republic of Moldova entered the top 20 fastest growing tourist destinations and ranked ninth, recording a 63 percent increase in inbound tourist arrivals, Logos Press reported.
Bhutan topped the ranking with a 203 percent increase, followed by Qatar with 138 percent, El Salvador with 88 percent, Albania with 83 percent, Bahrain with 76 percent, Uzbekistan with 73 percent, Curacao with 68 percent, Ethiopia with 58 percent, Tanzania with 57 percent, Saudi Arabia with 56 percent, Colombia with 56 percent, Brazil with 47 percent, Morocco with 47 percent, Egypt with 45 percent, Malta with 44 percent, Mongolia with 44 percent, Andorra with 43 percent, the US Virgin Islands with 42 percent, and Guatemala with 40 percent.
UN Tourism reported in its World Tourism Barometer that global international tourist arrivals rose by 5 percent in January to September 2025 compared to the same period in 2024 and exceeded pre pandemic 2019 levels by 3 percent.
