Moldova Reduces Territorial Prosecutor’s Offices from 36 to 14

As of April 1, the new structure of Moldova’s territorial prosecutor’s offices has taken effect following approval by Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu. The number of offices has been reduced from 36 to 14, aiming to enhance efficiency and specialization, IPN reports.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the reorganization seeks to improve conditions for prosecutors specializing in corruption, human trafficking, cybercrime, and other serious offenses. Authorities expect this change to enable faster and more effective responses to new forms of crime while ensuring a fairer application of the law.

Under the new structure, several district prosecutors’ offices have merged into larger units.
