The travel warning for the Republic of Moldova issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs misrepresents the realities in the country, Moldovan diplomats in Chisinau said, stressing that there are no security risks.

Moldovan authorities stated that national legislation applies across the country and that all foreign citizens, including Russian nationals, receive equal and non discriminatory treatment. Officials also emphasized that the state fully respects fundamental human rights in line with international standards.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Republic of Moldova is a safe destination for visitors and that no security threats justify the type of travel alert issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Moldovan diplomacy rejected what it described as attempts to distort the situation in the country and called for accurate and responsible public communication.

The reaction comes after the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Chisinau of conducting unjustified checks on Russian citizens at the airport and of restricting consular assistance.
