Moldova simplifies trade in organic products

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the regulation on the Import and Export of Ecological Products, aligning the legal framework with European Union standards. This update will facilitate trade in ecological products and diversify sales markets.

The new regulation outlines how officials will verify the transportation of ecological products and issue inspection certificates. It also specifies when ecological products can be exempt from official controls at border checkpoints and details the actions authorities must take if risks arise.

In addition, the Cabinet updated the regulation for using the national trademark “Ecological Agriculture – Republic of Moldova.” The changes streamline the process for certified operators to apply the trademark to new products and allow them to renew their authorization for the next year if the product labeling remains unchanged.
