The Republic of Moldova issues passports as official travel documents that allow citizens to cross borders and prove their identity abroad.
Moldovan citizens can hold two valid passports simultaneously, as long as both contain identical personal information.
Authorities issue passports with a validity of 10 years. For children under the age of 7, the passport remains valid for 4 years, while minors aged 7 to 16 receive passports valid for 7 years. If fingerprint collection proves impossible, the passport is issued with a one-year validity.
