The Government of the Republic of Moldova will officially hand over the national flag on Friday to the country’s delegation participating in the 2025 Summer World University Games. The event will take place in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany from July 16 to 27, IPN reports.
Thirty-one Moldovan athletes will represent the country in eight disciplines: archery, athletics, judo, canoeing, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and beach volleyball.
Over the years, Moldova has secured 27 medals at the World University Games: four gold, four silver, and 19 bronze. At the previous edition held in Chengdu, China, Moldovan athletes brought home three medals. Judoka Radu Izvoranu won silver, while Alexandru Bulat and Alexandru Masnic earned bronze medals in academic rowing.

The flag handover ceremony will begin at noon in the main hall of the Government House. Attending the event will be Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun, Secretary General of the Moldovan Federation of Student Sports Veaceslav Mirzac, and judoka Adil Osmanov.
