Moldova to Host European Beach Rugby Championship in Chisinau

The European Beach Rugby Championship will take place this weekend, August 22-23, 2026, at Orange Arena in Chisinau, bringing together some of the continent’s top teams in the discipline.

Over two days, eight men’s and eight women’s teams will compete for the European titles.

Moldova’s men’s and women’s national teams will begin their campaigns on August 22 against Greece. The women’s team will play at 12:00, followed by the men’s team at 13:30.

In the men’s competition, Moldova will also face teams from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Belgium, Cyprus, Lithuania and the Netherlands.

In the women’s tournament, Moldova’s opponents will include Estonia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland.

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for August 22 at 17:00, while the awards ceremony will take place on August 23 at 21:00.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, Moldova also hosted the previous edition of the championship. The Moldovan men’s team won the silver medal, while the women’s team claimed bronze.
