The Republic of Moldova will take part in the first EU Enlargement Forum, organized by the European Commission on November 18 in Brussels. The event will bring together European leaders, representatives of candidate countries, and policy experts to discuss the future of the European Union.
Moldova will be represented by Ambassador Daniela Morari, who will join a high-level debate on the eve of the forum, hosted by the European Centre for Political Studies. Diplomats from Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, and Ukraine, as well as Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of DG NEAR, will also participate in the discussions.
The forum, held under the slogan “By enlarging the Union, we secure our future,” will be hosted by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and will conclude with a keynote speech by European Council President António Costa.
According to the European Commission, enlargement remains essential for the EU’s ability to project stability, prosperity, and democratic values both within and beyond its borders. The Commission notes that the process advances the Union’s strategic interests, fosters economic growth, strengthens energy security, and anchors reforms in governance and the rule of law.
The new enlargement strategy for 2024–2029 aims to transform enlargement from a political commitment into a tangible policy of transformation and integration.
