Moldova and Ukraine are strengthening joint plans for infrastructure and transport development in line with both countries goals to improve regional connectivity and expand strategic logistics routes. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea discussed these issues in Chisinau with Ukrainian Ambassador Paun Rohovei.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the talks focused on bilateral cooperation in infrastructure and transport, with an emphasis on joint projects under the European Commission Solidarity Lanes initiative. This initiative supports the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to international markets and promotes the development of cross border logistics.

The sides discussed the modernization of road and rail infrastructure, bridge construction, road repairs, and the expansion of rail transport capacity. They consider these investments essential for facilitating regional trade flows and supporting Ukraines recovery and reconstruction.

Ambassador Paun Rohovei highlighted the importance of the high speed highway project Iasi Ungheni Chisinau Odessa and stressed the need to continue work on the joint project to build a bridge over the Dniester River in the Cosauti Yampil area.

Vladimir Bolea emphasized that, in light of Russian attacks on Ukraines port infrastructure on the Danube and Black Sea, expanding logistics routes through Moldova to Romanias ports has become a strategic priority. He noted that joint infrastructure development goes beyond economic benefits and represents a long term investment in regional stability, security, and prosperity within a united Europe.
