Moldova Wins First Gold Medal at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival

The Republic of Moldova has claimed its first medal at the 18th edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. Moldovan athlete Climentii Ursu earned the gold medal in the 10-meter air pistol event with an impressive score of 384 points.

According to the Ministry of Education, Ursu outperformed Serbian athlete Uros Gajic, who took silver, and Italy’s Loris Quarta, who secured the bronze. It marks Moldova’s first distinction at this year’s EYOF, which brings together top young athletes from across Europe.

Moldova is represented at the 2025 edition of the EYOF by a team of 23 athletes competing in eight different sports.

The Ministry of Education and Research congratulated Climentii Ursu and his coach for this outstanding achievement, highlighting its significance in promoting Olympic values and excellence in youth sports in Moldova.

The European Youth Olympic Festival is a multi-sport event organized by the European Olympic Committees. First held in Brussels in 1991, the EYOF serves as a springboard for young athletes aiming to compete in future European and World Championships as well as the Olympic Games.
