Moldova claimed three bronze medals at the European Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint Championships in Szeged, Hungary, just three weeks after the country’s athletes also reached the podium at the World Championships in Halifax, Canada.
Canoeist Mihai Chihaia, who won two bronze medals at the World Championships in Halifax, continued his strong form by securing two more bronze medals at the European Championships in Szeged.
His first medal came in the men’s C1 1,000-meter event, where he finished with a time of 3:55.135.
Chihaia then claimed another bronze in the C1 200-meter race, crossing the finish line in 42.883 seconds.
Moldova’s third bronze medal was won by Lev Lunin and Maxim Rogut in the men’s K2 500-meter event. The duo finished in 1:41.388, behind Belarusian pair Artiom Vaitseshyn and Heorhi Varazhun, who won gold with a time of 1:39.071, and Hungary’s Armin Palinkas and Hunor Mayer, who took silver in 1:39.985.
