Moldovan athletes won nine medals at the European Weightlifting Championship

Moldovan athletes won nine medals at the European Weightlifting Championship in the U15 age category. The competition is held in Chisinau.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, the athletes won 4 gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. The awarded athletes are Danu Secrieru, weight category 49 kg, total – 181 kg – silver medal, “pulled” test – 81 kg – gold medal, “thrown” test – 100 kg – silver medal; Dan Betca, weight category 55 kg, total – 191 kg – silver medal, “pulled” test – 84 kg – bronze medal, “thrown” test – 107 kg – gold medal and Nicoleta Cojocaru, weight category 55 kg – total 159 kg – gold medal, “plucked” test – 69 kg – bronze medal, “thrown” test – 90 kg – gold medal.

The weightlifters are students of the Municipal Boarding High School with Sports Profile and are trained by Emeritus Coach Sergiu Crețu.

The Republic of Moldova hosts, for the first time, the European Youth Weightlifting Championship. The event takes place from July 1-10 and brings together 346 athletes from 37 states. Our country is represented by 32 weightlifters.
