Moldovan border police together with Ukrainian authorities will combat illegal border crossing by people of conscription age

The Moldovan border police with the Ukrainian border police intend to combat illegal border crossing by people of conscription age. This was told by Moldovan Interior Minister Adrian Efros in an interview for “Ziarul de Garda.”

“Everyone is trying to save their lives. To a large extent, men between the ages of 18 and 60 cross the state border illegally. Often, they do it through the Transnistrian region. Almost every week, we carry out one or two operations to prevent such schemes organized on the territory of Moldova or by its citizens or together with citizens of Ukraine,” the official said.

According to him, the Moldovan border services, in cooperation with their Ukrainian colleagues, intend to curb illegal migration by jointly patrolling the border, including the Transnistrian section.

“We are trying to maintain closer communication with our Ukrainian colleagues and personally discussed with the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs the possibility of resuming joint patrolling of the Transnistrian region from the Ukrainian side. It will make it possible to prevent and contain illegal migration,” Efros noted.
