Moldovan cities can apply for the European Capital of Innovation 2024 Awards

The European Commission proudly announces the launch of the tenth edition of the European Capital of Innovation Awards (iCapital), recognizing and celebrating cities at the forefront of innovative solutions that enhance the lives of their citizens.

Eligibility for participation extends to cities with a minimum population of 50,000 inhabitants from EU Member States and countries associated with Horizon Europe, including Armenia, Georgia, and Moldova.

The competition comprises two distinguished categories: the European Capital of Innovation and the Rising Innovative City, with a total of six prizes to be awarded.

The 2024 European Capital of Innovation, the pinnacle title, will be accompanied by a €1 million prize. Additionally, the first and second runners-up in this category will each receive €100,000.

In the Rising Innovative City category, the winner will be honored with a €500,000 prize, while two runners-up will be awarded €50,000 each.

Beyond financial rewards, all winners and runners-up will gain entry into the esteemed EIC Prizes Alumni network. This exclusive group, comprising past iCapital laureates, offers a platform for sharing insights, addressing common challenges, and collaborating on innovative solutions.
