A Moldovan citizen was injured in the drone attack carried out overnight on September 8–9 against the Starokazachie border crossing in Ukraine’s Odesa region, located in the immediate vicinity of Moldova’s border.
According to information confirmed by the Moldovan authorities, the Moldovan citizen was injured in the attack but refused hospitalization. He later continued his journey by car toward Chisinau.
The attack also resulted in fatalities. Ukrainian authorities confirmed that the two people killed were Ukrainian citizens. There is currently no information indicating that any Moldovan citizens were among those killed.
Authorities are also checking reports concerning vehicles registered in Moldova that may have been damaged or destroyed during the attack.
The drone attack took place in the area of the Tudora–Starokazachie border crossing. The Ukrainian border crossing infrastructure was damaged, and two people were killed while two others were injured.
Russia has officially acknowledged carrying out the attack on Starokazachie. Moscow claimed that the border crossing infrastructure was being used to transport and deliver Western military supplies intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned Russia’s attacks against Ukraine.
Following the attack, operations at the Tudora–Starokazachie border crossing were suspended.
