The Government has rejected criticism from Socialist Party (PSRM) leader Igor Dodon over the presentation of the Prime Minister’s activity report outside Parliament. Government spokesperson Dumitru Ciorici advised the Socialists to consult the legislation, which stipulates that the Prime Minister’s annual report is presented to Parliament in the following year.
“We also urge them to abandon political smokescreens and focus on issues that matter to citizens,” Dumitru Ciorici said.
The response follows Igor Dodon’s warning that the PSRM would initiate a motion against the Government if the Prime Minister does not appear before Parliament in plenary session by the end of the year to explain the Executive’s performance. The Socialist leader also called on other opposition factions to support the initiative.
The dispute began after Prime Minister Vasile Tofan presented a review of his first 100 days in office at a press conference held at the Government headquarters. Opposition representatives attended the event and insisted on asking the head of the Executive questions.
