Moldovan Government Urges Caution Amid Rising Speculation on Transnistria

The Moldovan Government is urging calm as it closely monitors developments in the Transnistrian region and responds to a surge in speculation and misinformation. The Government Spokesman, Daniel Voda, announced it.

“In recent days, the Transnistrian issue has been deliberately inflamed, both domestically and regionally. Numerous and often contradictory claims are circulating from various public voices. It’s clear that actors are using this region as part of broader efforts to destabilize Moldova,” Voda said.

He stressed that the government remains calm and responsible, prioritizing the well-being of citizens on both banks of the Dniester River.

“Last winter, decisive government action helped prevent a humanitarian crisis and a potential conflict. Our priorities remain unchanged: peace, safety, and the welfare of all citizens,” he added.

Voda also referenced recent remarks by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, who warned that Russia is using Transnistria as a tool in its strategy to destabilize Moldova. He pointed to provocations from Tiraspol leaders, manipulation of energy and social issues, and disinformation campaigns as key tactics in this effort.

“We will stay calm in the face of provocations and respond in a measured and firm manner. We will continue strengthening our energy security, countering disinformation, and safeguarding national peace,” Voda stated.

He called on the public to follow only official sources for accurate information regarding the Transnistrian region.
