Household consumers who lose their natural gas supplier will receive supply from S.A. „Energocom” as the supplier of last resort at regulated prices approved by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), effective January 1, 2026.

The ANRE set the regulated gas price for end-users connected mainly to low-pressure distribution networks at 13.234 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT. The measure applies to consumers who lose their supplier due to circumstances such as the termination of the supplier’s activity, suspension or revocation of its license, or inability to ensure gas supply, reports BANI.MD.

The ANRE Board of Administration adopted the decision during an emergency meeting on December 23 to guarantee continuity of supply and maintain stability and security in natural gas delivery. The ANRE established a price of 8.296 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT, for gas delivered at exit points from transport networks. For gas delivered through high-pressure distribution networks, the price will be 8.422 lei per cubic meter, and for medium-pressure networks, 9.624 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT.

The ANRE explained that the emergency approval was necessary due to the monthly adjustment of last-resort supply prices and the impossibility of following standard transparency procedures. The agency calculated the prices using the gas procurement cost based on the TTF Front Month index, published by Argus European Natural Gas, for the day before approval.

The approved document does not specify whether any consumers currently benefit from last-resort supply. At the beginning of the year, no such consumers existed. By comparison, the standard household gas tariff, last set in December 2024, stands at 16.742 lei per cubic meter.
