Moldovan president discusses media resilience and independent journalism support with IMS

President Maia Sandu has met with representatives of International Media Support to discuss strengthening media resilience, combating disinformation, and supporting independent journalism in Moldova.

The talks focused on reinforcing the informational resilience of the country’s media landscape and addressing challenges related to manipulation and information warfare. The President praised IMS’s contribution to strengthening resistance to disinformation and supporting public interest journalism.

According to the Presidency, the discussions also covered continued cooperation in modernising Moldova’s media legislation in line with European best practices. Both sides emphasised the importance of a transparent and inclusive reform process aimed at strengthening press freedom in the country.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Moldovan authorities and international partners to support media independence and improve the regulatory framework for journalism in line with European standards.
