Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy will collaborate with several hospitals in France. Recently, a delegation from Adolphe de Rothschild Foundation Hospital and Gustave Roussy Hospital visited the university.
According to the press service of USMF “Nicolae Testemitanu,” the delegation included Fabrice Verriele, deputy director general of Adolphe de Rothschild Foundation Hospital; Georg Dorfmuller, head of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Department; Emmanuel Raffo, deputy head of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Service; Olivier Martz, project manager for international development; and Rémi Thiolet, head of global affairs at Gustave Roussy Hospital.
Health Minister Ala Nemerenco also attended the meeting, expressing gratitude to the French side for their willingness to cooperate in health, especially given the complicated geopolitical situation in the region. She emphasized that the Republic of Moldova aims to align with the highest international medicine standards as part of its EU accession efforts. She stressed the importance of “creating conditions for the implementation of the latest scientific achievements and the development of practical skills for doctors in the field of neurosurgery, including visits to French hospitals, teleconferences, and training courses at both university and postgraduate levels, to improve the quality of healthcare services in our country.”

The French delegation briefly presented their hospitals and announced their intention to collaborate by concluding a memorandum in neurosciences neurology, epileptology, neurosurgery, and oncopaediatrics. This collaboration will focus on disseminating international expertise in medical education, research, and practice through knowledge transfer and experience exchange. It will include organizing practical internships, academic and research mobilities, videoconferences, online meetings to discuss case studies and online consultations.
“We are honored by the visit and thank the Ministry of Health for the opportunity to attend the meeting. We are confident that this cooperation will enhance the didactic, curative, research, and methodological processes in neurology, neurosurgery, and pediatric oncology. It will also train relevant departments, young specialists, and researchers, ultimately benefiting the patients’ health in the Republic of Moldova,” said Rector Emil Ceban.
The French doctors’ visit, organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova from July 8-10, aims to develop cooperation in neurosurgery, oncology, and pediatric ophthalmology, improving these services through experience exchange and best practices transfer among specialists.
