Moldovan Team Wins Second Place in “Innovation Project” at FIRST LEGO League Championship 2025

According to a press release from the Ministry of Education and Research (MER), the Moldovan team claimed second place in the “Innovation Project” category at the 2025 FIRST LEGO League Open International Championship, held May 2–4 in Greece.

Representing Moldova was the Sirius team from the “Socrates” High School of Modern Languages and Information Technologies in Chisinau – the national stage winners.

The Moldovan students competed against 50 teams worldwide, including those from Germany, Japan, the USA, Canada, Romania, France, and South Korea.

They presented a smart fishing net prototype with sound-emitting sensors that repel marine animals. This project helps to protect ecosystems while allowing fishing activities to continue safely.

Experts from various fields praised the project, including the Moldovan Naval Agency, fishermen from Giurgiulesti, and microelectronics specialists from Romania.
