Moldovans Celebrate National Flag Day Today – Public Call from the Government: ”Let’s All Raise the Tricolor”

Authorities raised the national flag with solemnity this morning during an official ceremony held in front of the Government building. They organized the event to mark State Flag Day, established in accordance with the historic 1990 decision when Parliament officially adopted blue, yellow, and red as the Republic of Moldova’s national colors, reports IPN.

“Flag Day reminds us that the tricolor connects generations and guarantees a shared future. It stands as a symbol present in every moment of national pride—from international sports podiums to peacekeeping missions and diaspora achievements,” stated Daniel Voda.

He also urged citizens, local authorities, and public institutions to raise the flag in front of their homes, public buildings, and town squares. “Let’s turn this day into a visible moment of unity. Let’s stand together under the tricolor,” he said.

Moldova celebrates Flag Day every year, following its official establishment in 2010. The day marks the return to national symbols at a time when the country reaffirmed its identity and democratic path. The annual celebration strengthens national identity and promotes respect for state symbols.
