Moldova’s Council of Europe Chairmanship in Focus as Popsoi Addresses PACE

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi will pay a working visit to Strasbourg from January 26 to 28. In his capacity as Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, he will take part in the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

On January 28, Popsoi will deliver a speech in the PACE plenary, where he will present the traditional communication on behalf of the Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers and answer questions from parliamentarians.

The visit agenda includes meetings with Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset and PACE President Petra Bayer. Popsoi will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

In addition, Popsoi will participate in the event Women in Multilateralism, which promotes the role of women in multilateral diplomacy, with a focus on combating disinformation and strengthening democratic resilience.

The PACE winter session brings together parliamentarians from the 46 member states of the Council of Europe. The session will include debates on threats to the rules-based international order, the commitment to a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace for Ukraine, the security of the European continent, and the role of multilateral organizations in defending democratic values.
