Although he has become a minister in Chisinau, Claudiu Nasui continues to promote initiatives debated by the Romanian Parliament. In his latest social media post, the official wrote about legislation in Romania that would introduce “Savings and Investment Accounts.”

Nasui said this is the final piece of legislation he plans to promote before resigning from the Romanian Parliament. He said he postponed his resignation specifically because of this initiative.

“This is the first truly liberal reform carried out in Romania in a long time. I postponed my resignation from Parliament specifically to get this law passed. This is the last law I will pass in the Romanian Parliament before leaving, knowing that I have also brought this final project to completion. Strong capital markets in Romania are an advantage for Moldova and the entire region as well. A rich country is a country with wealthy people. And wealthy people emerge when capital accumulation is allowed and even encouraged. That is what the Savings and Investment Accounts do,” the official wrote on Facebook.

Claudiu Nasui took the oath of office and became Moldova’s Minister of Economy on August 28. He was nominated for the position by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan just hours after the Presidency announced that Maia Sandu had granted him Moldovan citizenship.

As of publication, the government’s press service had not specified whether Claudiu Nasui had communicated when exactly he would resign from the Romanian Parliament.
