Moldova’s service exports recorded strong growth in the January to September 2025 period and outpaced goods exports.

In real terms, service exports grew by 9.7 percent and contributed 1.4 percentage points to the overall GDP growth of 2 percent recorded during the same period.

As a result, service exports now account for about 16 percent of GDP and exceeded goods exports by around 5 percent, strengthening the services sector as the main driver of the Republic of Moldova’s external trade.

IT services, travel services, and business services registered the highest growth rates.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the data confirm a shift toward an economic growth model based on services, with a focus on knowledge intensive sectors, skills, and high value added.

In this context, the ministry emphasized the need for public policies to continue supporting human capital development, economic digitalization, improvements to the business climate, and the internationalization of Moldovan services in order to fully harness the potential of this strategic sector.

Statistical data also show that the services sector has become one of the most dynamic pillars of Moldova’s economy over the past five years. Between 2020 and 2024, the volume of service exports doubled, increasing from USD 1.27 billion to USD 2.7 billion.
