More Moldovans get informed about elections from social media than from traditional media, according to a sociological study presented by Promo-LEX. Citizens mainly prefer platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube for electoral information.

The results show that social networks represent one of the main sources of information: 37% of respondents use them frequently, while 18% use them very frequently. At the same time, 25% do not use them at all, and around 20% use them rarely.

Although many respondents say they rely on social media for information, they also report that they usually do not comment on or share content on their own accounts.

Researchers conducted the study between February 22 and March 12, 2026, on a sample of 1,226 respondents aged 18 and over. They covered 95 urban and rural localities across the Republic of Moldova (excluding the Transnistrian region and the diaspora) and collected data through face-to-face interviews, with a margin of error of ±2.8%.
