Moscow Press: Ignatiev explained what Russia’s “protection” for Transnistria means

Tiraspol wants diplomatic support from Russia. At least that’s how Vitali Ignatiev explained Transnistria’s request, voted on at the 28 February meeting of the so-called deputies, in an interview with Russia 24.

The separatist administration is asking Moscow diplomacy to get involved in resolving Tiraspol’s problems with the constitutional administration in Chisinau.

“First of all, we are talking about a request to provide diplomatic support to Transnistria. Russia is a responsible guarantor in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict,” Ignatiev said.

A congress of deputies was held in Tiraspol on 28 February. The event voted on a resolution asking Russia for “protection” from alleged pressure from Chisinau and appealing to several international organizations for support.
