During the same session, Munteanu declared that he has full confidence in his team but will not hesitate to make changes if issues arise regarding performance, integrity, or personal circumstances.

His remarks came after Renato Usatii, leader of “Our Party,” asked whether the Prime Minister would promptly dismiss underperforming ministers — as in the private sector — or consult the Action and Solidarity Party leadership before making such decisions.

“I do not belong to any political party and do not have to consult a Politburo before making decisions. The selection of ministers was based on two objective criteria — professionalism and integrity — and one subjective: the spark in the eyes. I wanted people ready to take responsibility and work hard,” Munteanu said.

He described his Cabinet as composed of competent and dedicated professionals, acknowledging that forming the team was challenging:

“It was difficult, because all the good people are very busy,” he remarked.

Munteanu emphasized that he will act swiftly if a member of his government fails to perform or violates the law. He also noted that personal reasons or exhaustion may justify changes in the team.

“Anything can happen — someone may get tired or face personal issues. We will act accordingly, but the team is strong and professional,” he added.

The designated Prime Minister concluded that his government’s top priority is to accelerate Moldova’s accession to the European Union, describing it as a “unique opportunity” for the country.

“We will work hard — maybe even more than before — because we have a historic mission,” Munteanu said.
