Muresan: Moldova and EU Priorities Dominate European Parliament’s Plenary Agenda This Week

Romanian MEP Siegfried Muresan said two major topics dominate this week’s European Parliament plenary session.

He explained that Moldova will be in focus through a resolution he co-initiated and a debate on European support against Russian aggression.

“We will adopt a resolution that I co-initiated and hold a debate to show our support for Moldova’s European path in the face of Russian aggression. Also, on September 9, President Maia Sandu will address the European Parliament plenary,” Muresan said.

He added that another major point is the State of the European Union (SOTEU), which European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will present on September 10. Her speech will cover strengthening the economy, security, the war in Ukraine, and relations with the United States.

“I will intervene to emphasize one essential thing: how we finance these European Union priorities from the European budget,” Muresan specified.

President Maia Sandu began her official visit to Strasbourg this week. During the visit, she will deliver a speech in the European Parliament plenary and meet several European dignitaries.
