The new law on the state border of the Republic of Moldova facilitates access to the border area up to the protection strip, only on the basis of an identity document. According to the General Border Police Inspectorate, this is a measure that reduces bureaucracy and ensures transparency in the interaction with border authorities, IPN reports.
The Border Police noted that the legislative reform is aligned with high European standards and aims to increase security, streamline border crossing and strengthen the protection of citizens’ rights.
The facilitation of economic activities in the border area is another benefit. The economic and other activities along the state border on a width of 1,000 meters from the state border line inward are carried out with the consent of the Border Police, which issues corresponding notices for the purpose.

Also, air operations with unmanned aircraft on board in the border area were regulated. For the safety of citizens and the conduct, in optimal conditions, of air operations with unmanned aircraft in the border area up to the limit of the state border protection strip, these are allowed during the daylight period, with a permit issued by the Border Police.
The procedures for obtaining access permits and permits for specific activities carried out in the border area were digitized through the “e-Permit” information system.
The Border Police and the Customs Service can delegate their powers to each other, which will enable faster and more efficient control of people and means of transport.
The national regulatory framework has been aligned with EU standards, the Frontex Fundamental Rights Strategy, the recommendations of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).
