Several officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have received promotions to higher diplomatic ranks under a decree signed by President Maia Sandu, IPN reports.
The decree grants the diplomatic rank of ambassador to former Minister of Foreign Affairs and current Special Envoy of the President for European Affairs and Strategic Partnerships Nicu Popescu.
The president also awarded the rank of ambassador to State Secretary Mihai Mitru, who will take up the post of Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Bucharest, State Secretary Carolina Perebinos, and Secretary General of the ministry Sergiu Mihov. In addition, the decree promotes Corina Calugaru, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to France, Oleg Tulea, former Ambassador to Hungary, and Carolina Agrici, Ambassador to Poland, to the same rank.
At the same time, the decree advances one ambassador, several department heads, and a number of consuls general to the higher diplomatic rank of minister plenipotentiary.
The decree entered into force on the day of its signing.
