The fair natural gas tariff for end consumers should be 13.8 lei per cubic meter, according to calculations by the parliamentary faction of Our Party.

MP Constantin Cuiumju, who has more than ten years of professional experience in the sector, said he based his calculations on average gas prices on European exchanges. In 2025, the average price in Europe reached 33.5 euro per MWh. He then added tariff components such as transportation, distribution, supply, profitability, and the cost of transporting gas to the border, estimated at 2.5 euro per MWh.

“As a result, we calculated a price of 12.779 lei without VAT. After adding 8 percent VAT, the final price reached 13.8 lei. Authorities could have applied this tariff as early as December, in line with the gas price calculation methodology,” the Our Party MP said.

Cuiumju also said that ANRE claims tariff adjustments can take place only at the request of the network operator or the supplier, Energocom, an interpretation he described as incorrect.

“Point 60 of the gas price calculation methodology states that if revenues increase by at least 1 percent, both the supplier and the regulatory authority have the right to request a tariff review. That is why it is unclear why this did not happen in December. If authorities had acted then, this would be the current tariff,” Cuiumju said.

On the same day, Energocom submitted a request to ANRE to revise the gas tariff, proposing a reduction of 1.5 lei, which would lower the final price to 15.25 lei per cubic meter, including VAT.
