Parliament opens its doors to visitors. Access is allowed only with a valid identity card

On the day that marks 34 years of parliamentary activity, the Parliament will open its doors to all citizens. Visitors will meet with deputies, explore the rooms where lawmakers make key decisions, and deepen their knowledge about democracy and parliamentarism. The Parliament will organize the Open Doors Day on Friday, May 23, starting at 1:00 PM.

The event program includes interactive activities for all age groups. Organizers will set up a space dedicated to children, where young visitors will draw, assemble puzzles, and learn fun facts about Parliament by solving crossword puzzles. Organizers will also hold a face-painting session for them.

Visitors of all ages will take part in a tote bag decorating workshop. Participants will personalize an eco-friendly tote bag, which they will receive as a gift. Those who want to test their knowledge of parliamentarism and democracy will join online or in-person quizzes, and those who answer correctly will receive prizes.

Organizers will host a treasure hunt for children and young people called ”Discover the Parliament.” Participants will follow a map with several locations and complete challenges that test thinking, creativity, and observation skills. Also in the courtyard, organizers will display two vintage cars used in the past to transport high-ranking officials. These include the ”Gaz-14” limousine from 1987 and the ”ZIL 41047” from 1989, previously used by former presidents Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi.

Deputies and staff members will guide visitors on tours of the Parliament building. The route will include the Parliament Museum, the plenary session hall, the Europa Hall, and other rooms where legislative meetings occur. The most daring visitors will simulate a press conference or a simultaneous interpretation exercise.

On the occasion of the Open Doors Day, organizers will also set up three themed exhibitions. The exhibitions will present photographs of the Flower Bridge event from 35 years ago and the parliaments of European Union member states. They will also display drawings by students from the Technical University of Moldova, who recently illustrated the Parliament building during an open-air art session.

During the event, participants will talk with deputies and leave messages, suggestions, or questions in a specially placed message box in the Parliament courtyard.

To support the “Donate a Book” campaign, we invite visitors to bring a children’s or teenager’s book to Parliament. Organizers will donate the books to beneficiaries of the ”Diaconia” Social Mission day centers to celebrate International Children’s Day.

Organizers will also set up a photo zone in the Parliament courtyard to capture memories and emotions from the Open Doors Day.

Visitors can enter with an ID without an appointment in advance. Children do not need identification, but adults must accompany them.
