Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Deputy Parliament Speaker of the European Parliament Victor Negrescu, and the Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, His Excellency Janis Mazeiks, met today to discuss prospects for enhancing cooperation between the European and Moldovan parliaments, according to the Parliament’s Communication and Public Relations Department.
The officials focused on strengthening relations between the two legislative bodies, emphasizing the need to maintain dialogue in light of Moldova’s EU accession process. They also highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences between MPs and civil servants from both institutions.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu thanked supporters for their continued assistance to Moldova and emphasized the importance of formalizing relations between the two parliaments. “Thank you for the support provided to Moldova, especially as we navigate a challenging situation. It’s crucial to update our relations, establish contact points, and create a Moldovan office at the European Parliament,” Grosu stated.

The discussion also addressed the importance of combating misinformation and manipulation during the electoral process, with the measures the authorities are taking to address these issues.
“The European Parliament supports Moldova’s path to European integration,” said MEP Victor Negrescu. He also referenced the recently adopted European Parliament Resolution, which reaffirms the EU’s unconditional support for Moldova’s European integration and efforts to address security risks.
