The Moldovan community in Chicago forms the largest Moldovan diaspora in North America, and its energy, solidarity, and success serve as a model for communities worldwide. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stated this during his visit to the United States.
According to him, more and more young entrepreneurs born in Moldova are building their own “American dream” in Chicago, developing businesses, starting families, and proudly promoting the name of their country of origin.
“I was delighted to see how they built businesses, established families, and proudly carried forward the name of Moldova in just a few years. They serve as the best ambassadors of our country,” Grosu emphasized.
The parliament speaker noted that, thanks to the community’s involvement and needs, Moldovan authorities opened a consulate in the region in a short time, helping Moldovans gain faster and easier access to consular services.
During discussions with the Diaspora, Igor Grosu addressed the political situation at home, Moldova’s efforts toward gradual integration into the European Union, and investment opportunities. He listened to his compatriots’ concerns and ideas and assured them that the government would continue to stay close to them.
“We discussed the political situation at home, our efforts to gradually integrate Moldova into the European Union, investment opportunities, concerns, ideas, and plans because we want to stay close to them and support them as much as we can,” Grosu added.
Grosu highlighted that, in recent years, the government adopted more measures to stimulate investments in Moldova—many of which the business community in the USA proposed. He encouraged Moldovans in Chicago to continue investing in the country, assured them that Moldova always welcomes them home, and emphasized that the authorities will support their initiatives.
The delegation’s agenda also included meetings with Moldovan entrepreneurs who succeeded in the USA. Officials visited Dynamic Investments, led by Vasile Sorocean, which specializes in industrial space construction and heavy goods transport, as well as C1 Holding, a group of six trucking companies with an impressive fleet and dozens of employees from Moldova.
Through his active presence in Chicago, Igor Grosu sent a clear message: Moldova relies on its Diaspora, on the strategic partnership with the USA, and on strengthening cooperation that supports the country’s modernization.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu is conducting a working visit to the United States from December 2–10.
