Greco-Roman wrestler Maxim Sarmanov won the bronze medal at the European Wrestling Championship for athletes under the age of 20. The competition took place in Caorle, Italy.
“Our athlete defeated Romania’s Dragos Gabriel Draga in the small final of the under 55 kg weight category with a score of 5-0 and received the bronze medal. To complete the podium in his category, Maxim Sarmanov also achieved two other victories against representatives from Hungary and the Czech Republic,” according to a press release from the Ministry of Education and Research (MER).
Another representative of the Republic of Moldova, Constantin Tasca, lost in the small final of the 77 kg weight category to Armenian athlete Samvel Terteryan and placed fifth.
