Popescu at the NATO summit: the Alliance announced projects to support Moldova

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, is participating in the NATO summit in Vilnius, in the meeting of foreign ministers of NATO countries and invited partner countries. During the meeting, Popescu presented information related to regional security, the risks generated by the war unleashed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and the measures that Moldova is taking to counter the complex security challenges of our country, TV8 reports.

“I emphasized the need to strengthen regional security and stability through measures to strengthen democratic, economic, energy, military resilience and increase the ability to withstand new challenges,” Popescu said.

At the same time, the current priorities of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova were considered, including the implementation of reforms to advance the EU accession process and the modernization of the country, as well as ensuring the stability and security of the state.

“I emphasized that the main task is to modernize the national security and defense sector with new developments and the requirements of the current security environment. We reaffirmed our country’s interest in implementing bilateral practical programs, including the NATO Assistance Package for Strengthening the Security and Defense Capabilities of the Republic of Moldova, the Professional Development Program, the Security and Defense Strengthening Program, and many others,” Nicu Popescu added.
