Pottery is one of the oldest crafts practiced in what is now the Republic of Moldova. Shaped from clay and fired in a kiln, each vessel keeps alive the craftsmanship and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
Beyond the practical use of the objects it produces, pottery is also a form of artistic expression. Every stage of the process, from selecting and preparing the clay to shaping, decorating and firing the vessels, requires patience, skill and knowledge of techniques preserved over time.
Today, potters continue to carry this craft forward, adapting it to modern times while preserving its traditional elements. Clay vessels and objects are therefore not only decorative or household items, but also an important part of Moldova’s cultural heritage, preserving stories, symbols and fragments of the identity of the Moldovan village.
