President Maia Sandu Meets Romanian Foreign Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

President Maia Sandu met with Romania’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Oana-Silvia Toiu, who is on an official visit to Moldova.

The President expressed her gratitude for Romania’s steadfast and consistent support of Moldova’s European integration, economic development, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

The leaders focused their discussions on key areas of bilateral cooperation, including infrastructure and energy. They highlighted ongoing joint projects: the construction of the Ungheni road bridge, the Union Highway, the modernization of the Cantemir–Falciu railway, and the accelerated work on the Straseni–Gutinas and Balti–Suceava electricity lines. Both sides also emphasized the urgent need to reduce waiting times at border crossings.

Additionally, they addressed challenges related to information security and agreed to enhance cooperation to combat disinformation. The officials underscored the importance of actively supporting Ukraine in its defense of peace and security across the European continent.
