President Maia Sandu Meets the New U.S. Diplomatic Envoy Nick Pietrowicz

President Maia Sandu met with the newly appointed U.S. Charge d’Affaires Nick Pietrowicz and extended her best wishes for his tenure. She thanked the U.S. for its support over the past three decades and assured her commitment to deepening the bilateral partnership for the benefit of both nations’ citizens, reports IPN.

She stated that this support has significantly strengthened Moldova’s international standing. Sandu reaffirmed Moldova’s interest in deepening cooperation with the United States to benefit citizens on both sides.

”During the discussions, President Maia Sandu welcomed the progress toward reconciliation in the South Caucasus, mediated by American President Donald Trump. She also emphasized the importance of a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine and across the region,” according to a press release from the Presidency.

Nick Pietrowicz began his mandate in Moldova at the start of August. He is a career diplomat and special agent in the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service. He previously served in Haiti, Afghanistan, Chad, Angola, Australia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pietrowicz also worked at the U.S. Embassy in Chișinău from 2008 to 2011 as a regional security officer.
