President Maia Sandu met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Yan Wenbin

President Maia Sandu met on Monday, June 9, with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Yan Wenbin, on the occasion of the completion of his mandate in Moldova. President Sandu thanked him for deepening Moldovan-Chinese ties and for the Chinese government’s support.

President Sandu highlighted the construction of Moldova’s largest photovoltaic park in Criuleni — a Chinese investment worth 4 million euros.

“President Maia Sandu emphasized Moldova’s interest in expanding economic cooperation with China, particularly by increasing exports of wine and other agri-food products. She also welcomed recent efforts that facilitated the access of Moldovan products like grape seed and sunflower seed flour to the Chinese market,” the Presidential Office noted in a press release.

During the meeting, President Sandu reaffirmed Moldova’s strong commitment to contributing to European security and the rules-based international order grounded in the principles of the UN Charter.

She condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and stressed the need to respect all states’ sovereignty and territorial integrity.
