Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu met today with Poland’s Ambassador to Moldova, Tomasz Kobzdej, to discuss Poland’s support for Moldova’s development, economic partnership, and backing for the country’s European integration path.
“Poland is a strategic ally on Moldova’s European path, in strengthening resilience and modernizing the economy. With more than 20 years of EU membership, Poland shows how European integration can positively transform a country,” Prime Minister Munteanu said.
The prime minister thanked Poland for sharing expertise in the EU accession process and for assistance provided through the Polish Aid Programme and the Polish Solidarity Fund. Over the past 15 years, Poland has financed 264 projects worth 15 million euros, with funding tripling in the last two and a half years. Major initiatives focus on resilience, border security, and socioeconomic development, including EU4Resilient Moldova, EU4Border Security, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The officials also discussed trade and economic relations, ways to increase Moldovan exports to Poland, and opportunities to attract more Polish investments. Poland ranks eighth among Moldova’s trading partners and is the largest importer of Moldovan juices, accounting for 32 percent of exports, as well as the third-largest importer of Moldovan wines in the European Union.
Currently, 88 companies with Polish capital operate in Moldova, with total investments of about 12.8 million euros, placing Poland among the country’s top 13 investors. Prime Minister Munteanu said Moldova is interested in attracting Polish investments in renewable energy, high-performance agriculture, and infrastructure.
