Realitatea Media Group has successfully concluded the second edition of its TV and Online Journalism Internship Program, which brought together seven young participants from Chișinău. Over the course of three months, the interns received hands-on training from experienced television and print journalists, gaining practical insight into news production, from research and writing to filming, video editing, and television broadcasting.
This year’s internship focused on the theme “Young People as Ambassadors of a Healthy Lifestyle.” After learning about the day-to-day work of a newsroom, participants selected topics they considered important and produced their own journalistic reports, which were broadcast on Realitatea TV and published across the media group’s digital platforms.
The young journalists explored a range of public-interest issues, including the risks associated with energy drink and e-cigarette consumption among young people, sedentary lifestyles, sexual education for teenagers, and the role of sports in promoting healthy living.
The program concluded with a graduation ceremony attended by Daniela Munca-Aftenev, Deputy Head of Chișinău’s General Directorate for Education, Youth and Sports.
“It is important for us to understand young people’s needs and identify the areas that are not fully covered by academic programs or the school curriculum. Learning directly from experts provides valuable experience that schools cannot always offer. We are pleased to have supported this project financially, logistically, and organizationally, and we hope it will continue next year with even more young participants,” Munca-Aftenev said.
Dumitru Țîra, CEO of Realitatea Media Group, highlighted the importance of the initiative for developing critical thinking and introducing young people to the journalism profession.
“This is the second edition organized by Realitatea Media Group. We are delighted to have the opportunity to train young people in a profession that helps develop critical thinking, opens doors to future careers if they choose journalism, and gives them a better understanding of the opportunities and behind-the-scenes work of the profession,” he said.
The internship program is now in its second year and is financially supported through the Municipal Grants Program for Youth Organizations in Chișinău, implemented by the General Directorate for Education, Youth and Sports and the Chișinău Municipal Youth Center under the auspices of Chișinău City Hall.
